Rarity and Value: This denomination was only printed from 1875 until 1878. That is a very short period of time. It is no surprise that these are usually at least scarce and sometimes quite rare. One dollar was not a tremendous amount of money, so it was possible for these to be saved as curiosity items. Prices start at around $400 and go up quickly from there. The same thing goes for 1902 red seals; only around 30 are known to exist. Some blue seals can definitely be scarce, but they have to be from rare towns like Clio, Woodruff, Wagener, St. Matthews, and several other towns. Most notes from South Carolina are in VF condition or much lower. High quality notes that are also rare are few and far between.
