Basic Design:

Rarity and Value:  We don’t traditionally think of 1902 $20 blue seals as being scarce, but they are very rare as territorials. Currently only about 20 are known to exist. These were not printed until 1908; by that time there were very few territories left. The value of any note like this is largely based on the condition and issuing location. Most are worth thousands of dollars, some can be worth even more than that. Contact us for an exact quote. Don’t forget to check the serial number. Number 1 notes always sell for nice premiums.

Current Market Analysis:  New Mexico did not become a state until 1912. That means that everything issued before 1912 is a territorial. Believe it or not, there is actually a wide selection of territorials from New Mexico. First charters, brown backs, and red seals all exist in relatively high numbers. However, that does not mean that they are cheap. We personally really enjoy territorial blue seals. There are also some rare towns from New Mexico. That is the good news. The bad news is that there are very few rare state notes (those issued after 1912) out there. As of this writing, there is not an especially strong collector base supporting the price of New Mexico nationals. Most buyers are just looking for one or two cool territorials.
